Gewinner des 1. Platz beim Silverfish Board-Building-Contest, Thema: V-Lam (vertikale Verleimtechnik mit Vollholz)

Material: Teak, Ahorn, Bienenwachs

Achsen: Abgesägte Randals (150 auf 116 mm), sandgestrahlt und klar lackiert.

 

Das war damals das 3. Deck überhaupt, das wir gebaut hatten – nach dem Slalomboard gleich noch ein Beitrag für einen Contest.

Das Brett hat letztendlich nicht durchgehalten. Die torsionalen- und Scherkräfte haben das Holz an den Schraubenlöchern gespalten, da war einfach zu wenig Material.
Wir hatten zwar vorher versucht, das Deck mit Biax-Glasgelege zu belegen um die torsionalen Kräfte aufzunehmen, aber aufgrund des hohen Ölgehalts von Teak kam keine brauchbare Verbindung zustande und man konnte die Faser wieder abziehen.

Nichts desto trotz – es wurde trotzdem vom Publikum zum Gewinner gewählt.

Darüber hinaus hat es Pate gestanden für den Bird.

Material: teak, maple, beewax

Trucks: cut-down randals (150 to 116 mm), sandblasted and clear coated

This was the 3rd deck we ever made – after our slalomdeck the second entry for a building contest.

Finally the deck didn't made it. Torsional and shearing forces split the wood at the bolt-hole area because of insufficient material.

Indeed we tried before to layup biax-glass, but the oil-concentration in teak is too high, so it couldn't compound together. At least we had to draw it off.

It has been voted for winner anyway.

Furthermore it was inspiration for the bird.
